Schedule: 3rd Shift works approximately from midnight to 6:00 am with a starting pay rate of $16.40/hour.
A Sanitation Worker is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing processing equipment, production areas, floors, walls, drains, and other areas of the plant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize processing equipment, machinery, conveyors, tables, walls, floors, drains, and other facility areas.
- Disassemble and reassemble equipment as required for proper cleaning and sanitation.
- Use cleaning chemicals, detergents, sanitizers, and pressure-washing equipment according to company procedures and safety requirements.
- Follow established sanitation procedures and schedules to ensure all areas meet company and food safety standards.
- Remove food debris, grease, blood, feathers, and other waste from production areas.
- Inspect cleaned areas and equipment to ensure they meet sanitation requirements.
- Report damaged equipment, leaks, safety hazards, or sanitation concerns to the supervisor.
- Properly handle, store, and dispose of cleaning chemicals and waste.
- Follow all USDA, HACCP, food safety, OSHA, and company sanitation requirements.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety procedures.
- Complete sanitation records, checklists, and other required documentation accurately.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years old.
- Previous sanitation, janitorial, food processing, or poultry plant experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals, hoses, pressure washers, and basic cleaning equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be dependable and willing to work scheduled hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime when needed.
Physical Requirements
- Work in a wet and cold environment (45ºF, 4ºC).
- Stand 8+ hours throughout work day.
- Exposure to noise (>85 decibels), CO2, and moving production lines.
- Regularly lift 25+ lbs. to include moving, lifting, and pushing machinery.
- Regularly climb up and down ladders.
- Frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Continually handle a 900 PSI water hose.
