JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

JOB DUTIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Working under general supervision, a Designer II prepares designs and working drawings for mechanical and electronic system components, which impact on the adequacy of designs, safety, economy, efficiency, function and sizes of components to be installed in a wide range of system types. Employee works on portions of larger designs as assigned by higher-level designers.

Employee will be responsible to perform the following functions/duties:

  • Prepare semi-complex electronic and/or mechanical designs and drawings following general instructions, notes, or sketches, which includes tasks such as designing/preparing complex dense multi-layer analog and digital printed circuit board (PCB) layouts, schematics, database (dB) component configuration, and integrated electrical manufacturing (EM) packaging
  • Conduct searches for parts, utilizing engineering and vendor data, and prepare associated parts lists
  • Provide reverse engineering of complex aerospace parts, ground support equipment, and radio frequency (RF) system sub-assemblies, and make recommendations to specific design requirements
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and make 3-D models to support design effort
  • Prepare supporting documentation to clarify completeness, dimensional accuracy, and conformity to standards
  • Research technical publications related process, materials, finishes, and standard design practices
  • Conduct design assignments with modeling Computer-aided design (CAD) software and/or schematic capture electric design automation (EDA) routers and computer equipment
  • Prepare work packages and assist in the development of department standards
  • May provide work direction to lower-level department personnel
  • Perform other job-related duties, as required

RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION

Minimum Desired Experience

The candidate shall have:

  • Basic experience using CAD software to create and revise technical drawings.
  • Ability to update floor plans, equipment layouts, rack elevations, and similar drawings under direction.
  • Ability to revise electrical, mechanical, infrastructure, or system diagrams based on provided markups or approved changes.
  • Ability to maintain as-built drawings following installations, modifications, and equipment relocations.
  • Ability to incorporate approved engineering or configuration changes into existing drawings.
  • Experience supporting technical documentation, including equipment lists, Bills of Material (BOMs), and installation records.
  • Ability to organize and maintain drawing files and technical documentation libraries.
  • Ability to follow drafting standards, file management procedures, and document control processes.
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work with supervision.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate should have:

  • Experience supporting facilities, infrastructure, or mission system documentation.
  • Familiarity with CAD standards and basic drafting practices.
  • Familiarity with electrical, mechanical, or infrastructure drawings.
  • Experience updating controlled drawings in a technical environment.
  • Experience supporting installation, renovation, or technology-refresh projects.
  • Ability to work with engineers, technicians, facilities personnel, or project teams in a support role.
  • Experience maintaining equipment lists, BOMs, or installation documentation

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

A bachelor’s degree is preferred. A two-year technical degree in design, drafting, or an engineering field and six (6) years of design experience are required for this position. Design experience can be a combination of direct design experience, advance design drafting, or schooling.

In addition, a Designer II must possess the following qualifications:

  • Familiar with non-standard metric design and tolerance
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Planning/organizational skills
  • Ability to work under deadlines
  • Must possess a valid, state issued driver’s license
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance
  • Must be a U.S. citizen

SALARY

The expected salary range for this position is $90,000 to $105,000 annually.

JT4, LLC considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 30 pounds), constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required.

Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
