Maintenance Assistant

Base salary starts at $20.94/hr.

E S S E N T I A L F U N C T I O N S

Takes initiative to correct items, conditions, or repairs before they are reported to the Engineering department.
Implements all security policies and procedures.
Acts as the secondary contact for any building issues (climate control, odors, smoke, spills, damage, emergencies and repairs).
Assists in maintaining building security and immediately responds to building emergencies.
Assists with minor plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs under supervision.
Assists with departmental and employee moves.
Performs basic electrical work and determines when an electrician is required.
Replaces Fire Alarm devices.
Takes the Fire Panel off line.
Completes and assists with projects as assigned.
Understands which duties and work needs pre-approval and communicates this information to other staff and departments as necessary.
Completes scheduled preventative maintenance on work orders that are issued.
Other duties as assigned.

E D U C A T I O N

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

E X P E R I E N C E

At least two (2) years’ maintenance experience preferred.
Experience in a hospital setting preferred.
Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn required.

C R E D E N T I A L S

Must certify in a de-escalation program as approved by IMH within six months of hire or transfer, and re-certify yearly to maintain certification throughout employment with IMH.
Must have a current, valid, driver’s license and be eligible for IMH liability insurance.

General maintenance skills.
Ability to use a computer, calculator, electrical equipment and work tools of various trades.
Excellent customer service skills, including but not limited to: a friendly personality, tact, patience, empathy and a helpful, professional attitude both in person and on the telephone.
Ability to effectively communicate with staff, managers and the general public verbally and in writing.
Demonstrate effective listening and learning skills.
Organization and time management skills and ability to establish priorities effectively.
Possess problem solving skills.
Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
Ability to learn new computer software programs.
Ability to recognize and protect confidential information.
Demonstrate ethical and legal accountability for the position.
