Summary

The Electronic Technician II assists engineers in performing technical engineering requirements of the Authority's generating facilities. Writes technical reports and develops charts, graphs, and schematics to describe and illustrate the system's operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations. Examples of duties

• Discusses layout and assembly procedures and problems with Plant Electrician Supervisor and draws sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronics units.* Assembles experimental circuitry (beadboard) or complete prototype model.* Recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.* Sets up standard test apparatus or devises test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model.* Analyzes and interprets test data.* Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance.* Fabricates and tests electronic circuits; may fabricate parts where close tolerances are required.* Troubleshoots malfunctions and makes necessary modifications or repairs.* Checks functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.* Uses established and well-defined engineering procedures; gathers and correlates basic engineering data.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of applicable section of National Electric Code and National Safety Electric Code.* Thorough knowledge of electricity and mathematics.* Knowledge of applicable section of National Electric Code and National Safety Electric Code.* Thorough knowledge of gas turbine control systems.* Ability to understand and prepare plant drawings.* Ability to understand and prepare line construction drawings.* Ability to prepare job orders.* Ability to complete computation using electrical formula and equations.* Ability to prepare clear, complete and accurate drawings and plans.* Ability to operate and utilize personal computers and their related peripherals.

Supplemental information

Graduate of an accredited college with an Associate of Science degree in electronics or a closely related field and four (4) years of experience in power plant maintenance.
