The Mainframe Application Sr. Consultant will provide AMS support (L2/L3 support) including minor and major enhancements for the client's applications for SAP, Basis systems, Salesforce, Legacy applications.

Work you’ll do

The Mainframe Application Sr. Consultant will support IBM z/VSE production applications, batch jobs, online transactions, and interfaces. Monitor workloads and troubleshoot ABENDs, batch failures, application errors, and data issues. Perform root cause analysis, job restarts, recovery activities, and production validation. Develop and implement application enhancements and production fixes.

Modify COBOL/VSE programs, z/VSE JCL, CICS transactions, SQL, and file-processing logic. Support VSAM files, DB2 for VSE & VM data, CICS/VSE transactions, and batch processing. Prepare and execute unit, functional, integration, regression, SIT, and UAT testing. Develop test cases, coordinate test data and environments, track defects, and perform retesting. Support production implementations, change management, and post-implementation monitoring. Maintain technical documentation, support procedures, and knowledge-transfer materials. Coordinate with business users, project managers, infrastructure teams, vendors, and offshore resources. Provide technical guidance and participate in 24x7 or on-call production support. Engineering as a Service provides complete design, implementation, and technology operations, leveraging our core engineering expertise. Our flexible delivery models—traditional teams, pools, or pods—are tailored to each client’s needs, offering engineering-led advisory, implementation, and operational capabilities to accelerate innovation.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with IBM z/VSE, z/VSE JCL, VSE/POWER, COBOL/VSE, CICS/VSE, VSAM, DB2 for VSE & VM, SQL, embedded SQL, IDCAMS, and batch processing.
  • Strong knowledge of ABEND resolution, job-log and SYSLOG analysis, CICS troubleshooting, dumps, root cause analysis, application debugging, job restart and recovery procedures, production incident management, testing, defect management, and release implementation.
  • Exposure to CA 7, Control-M, Endeavor, ChangeMan, InterTest, Xpediter, File-AID, ICCF, VSE/Interactive Interface, MVS, OS/390, TSO, ISPF, IDMS, IMS, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder-management, offshore coordination, documentation, and knowledge-transfer skills.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related IT discipline; or equivalent experience
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
  • Ability to travel 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
