Summary

Division: Within the Rehabilitation Department at ELMHS, Located in Jackson, LA

The Mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation, and consultation for adults. Programs include inpatient interventions, jail-based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long-term psychiatric care are coordinated with the total system of care in Louisiana.

ELMHS is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented individual to come and join ELMHS as a Rehabilitation Instructor!

Examples of duties

Three years of experience in rehabilitation services, social services, human resources, education, therapy services, or nursing; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR

A bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties:

  • Independently plans, organizes and directs the teaching of Painting within the Rehabilitation Department
  • Teaches clients referred to and enrolled in his/her area of the work therapy program.
  • Directs patients in developing specific skills of the instructed trade as well as incorporating other basic aspects needed to enhance their individual needs.
  • Evaluates individual patient progress and activity through daily contact and participation with them in activities and performance of work.
  • Formulate and implement evaluation and training programs to satisfy the needs of each client.

Appointment Type: Probational, Permanent, or Detail

Career Progression: This position participates in a CPG and can be filled as a Rehabilitation Instructor 1 or a Rehabilitation Instructor 2 based on experience.
