POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, assists in the security measures of the CTA by providing real-time monitoring of the CTA bus and rail systems. Assists Investigators in criminal and/or internal investigations. Conducts physical security assessments, uses technology for security monitoring and surveillance, and monitors, assesses and assists in management of contracted security, public safety facing contractors and internal personnel.
Qualifications
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides real-time monitoring of conditions on the CTA system (bus & rail) to assist law enforcement agencies.
o Monitors CTA technologies; ChatBot, ZeroEyes, CCTV.
o Redeploys security resources when necessary to combat crime, disorder and violations to the CTA Code of Conduct on the CTA system.
o Mitigates a crime scene during CTA security related emergencies or major incidents to expedite the restoration of service.
• Provides support to Security Investigators or facilities security staff who act as liaisons between the CTA and law enforcement agencies.
o Attends court to provide video and assist witnesses.
• Provides security assessments and makes recommendations for improvements.
o Collects, analyzes, and provides CTA crime patterns to properly deploy law enforcement resources on CTA facilities to ensure security.
• Catalogues recorded video and maintains database for ascertaining when video was recorded and to whom it was tendered. Obtains, reviews, and preserves video evidence of crimes and incidents occurring on CTA property.
• Coordinates with CTA Control Center Security Controllers on reports of security breaches and criminal activity on the system.
• Performs relate duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement or a related field, plus two (2) years of experience or a combination of training and experience relating to this position, or equivalent military experience.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
• Must be familiar with CCTV.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Conducting surveillances in and around CTA property.
• Requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time and constantly operating a computer and other office productivity machinery.
• Service Area Requirement: Exempt (Non-Union) employees must live within the boundaries of the CTA Statutory Service Area either at the time of employment or within 6 months of beginning employment at CTA.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Authority’s operations, rules and regulations coupled with the ability to assess and track criminal activities on the system.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to maintain effective working relationship with departments, employees and Managers at all levels of the internal organization, as well as vendors and outside agencies.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, etc.).
• Ability to compile data and produce reports.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• May be required to work weekday and weekend hours with varying shift times as well as various extended or irregular hours (including evenings, nights, & weekends) in order to meet scheduling needs or respond to CTA emergencies.
• General office environment.
• Required to travel to various CTA, vendor, and transit property locations.
• Subject to weather conditions when traveling to field locations.
EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, AND MATERIALS UTILIZED
• Personal computer and related software (Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel), smart phone, radio, CTA Camera system and programs, copying video onto DVD/disks.
Additional Details Employees and/or union members will be given priority consideration in the hiring process, per the applicable labor contracts.
Final salary will be determined in part by the qualifications of the selected candidate and may be higher or lower than target.
