Job Summary
This role manages a high-volume commercial A/R portfolio for the Applied Group, partnering with technical sales and engineers to analyze credit risk, structure approvals, and prepare detailed files to speed Regional Credit Manager decisions. Serve as a strategic financial partner to internal teams and confidently interface with senior general contractors, developers, and owners of major mechanical firms driving timely credit reviews, minimizing (61+ day) aging through strong risk mitigation, and optimizing cash flow. ( Salary range 65k-80K)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage a commercial construction A/R portfolio, thoroughly reviewing credit worthiness of new projects for both current and new customers. The candidate will prepare detailed risk packages to forward for regional and corporate approval on high-dollar lines.
- Partner proactively with the Applied Group of Engineers and Technical Account Managers to assess financial risk, project scale, and credit requirement.
- Protect company security by executing and tracking statutory mechanics lien rights, public/private payment bond claims, and joint check agreements.
- Drive daily credit and cash application workflows leveraging ERP and Collections Systems to maximize billing and collection efficiency.
- Conduct professional, highly assertive financial outreach to C-suite and ownership teams at major contracting firms to settle past-due commercial balances.
- Formulate and deliver data-driven credit risk summaries, cash forecasting, and aging report updates directly to the Regional Credit Manager.
- Attend regional Dashboard and Sales meetings and as necessary client project site discussions to provide guidance on complex project financing and credit structures.
- Maintain rigorous electronic credit files, financial statement reviews, and statutory notice logs in compliance with internal corporate procedures and external audits.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
- 5–10 years of corporate credit management experience with preference for candidates from distribution-based, construction-based, mechanical contracting, or industrial manufacturing environments.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of commercial construction law, AIA billings (G702/G703), retention rules, and conditional/unconditional lien waivers, including mechanics lien/bond timelines and statutory rights for the New York metro/Northeast region.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with proven confidence leading high-stakes negotiations with corporate executives.
- Advanced ability to evaluate commercial corporate financial statements and credit bureau/credit analytics.
- Proven history partnering constructively with aggressive commercial sales teams to create secure deal structures that close while protecting company assets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional designations from the National Association of Credit Management (NACM).
- Notary Public certification.
