SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician is a multi-skilled craftsperson responsible for repairing and maintaining

machinery, plants and equipment within the facility. He/she receives job assignments and reports

results to the Maintenance Group Leader assigned to each respective shift.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Observes devices and equipment in operation and troubleshoots problems.

· Dismantles and reassembles equipment to make necessary repairs.

· Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.

· Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

· Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.

· Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.

Lubricates and cleans parts. Performs routine preventive maintenance (lubrication, filter

changes, belt inspections)

· Working knowledge of PLCs (program/modify logic), motor controls, and pneumatic/hydraulic

systems

· Performs various electro-mechanical maintenance functions. Performs electrical

troubleshooting (motors, starters, sensors, relays) up to 480V

· Sets up and operates drill press, grinder and other metal working tools to make and repair

parts.

· Performs basic housekeeping and organization of maintenance shop/parts area

· Updates Maintenance (software) records with accurate diagnostics and parts usage to support

planning

· Interprets technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and blueprints

· Other job duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year technical school studying applied trades,

plus 2–5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in rubber, plastics, injection or

extrusion manufacturing. Proven experience with complex electrical/controls troubleshooting

and equipment installation/commissioning.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

No certificates or license is required (electric license desired), the employee must cover the essential

duties and have the experience to prove it, also be willing to further his education with any experience

that will help him perform his job in a more efficient manner (after work hours welding classes, after

work hours machine shop classes, etc.).

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to

write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group

situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to read

and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure

manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions,

percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Basic computer literacy (email, navigation, data entry). Ability to receive, read, and close out work

orders. Can log downtime, parts used, and completion notes accurately

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where

only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written,

oral, diagram, electric diagram or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid

conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, risk of electrical
