Summary

APPRENTICE APPRAISER: $48,680.32
APPRAISER I: $52,236.08
APPRAISER II: $56,009.20

Examples of duties

APPRENTICE APPRAISER:
• This is an uncertified position learning the skills and responsibilities of the Appraiser I position
• Works closely with a Sr. Appraiser in all aspects of the job from field work to the office paperwork and follow up that is required
• Works with an Appraiser II to get a variety of perspectives on the job

APPRAISER I
• Coordinates and performs field inspections in assigned areas
• Performs simple to complex residential appraisals, including the measuring and listing of building components, drawing and calculating of various components in a mass appraisal environment
• Interprets field notes, accurately draws and calculates fieldwork, and completes official property records for respective areas
• Works with various computer programs and maintains databases
• Analyzes and interprets the factors affecting property values
• Processes applications for Agricultural status, Senior Value Protection Option and Personal/Organizational Exemptions and Tax Clearances for manufactured homes
• Reviews and verifies Recorded Sales Affidavits
• Processes Land Split/Combination requests and new subdivision
• Processes Business Personal Property Statements
• May perform plan review on more complex properties
• Interacts with state agencies
• Maintains property records
• Works with various computer programs and maintains databases
• Interacts with state agencies
• Performs Personal Property Audits and tax roll corrections
• May respond to petitions for field review
• Interacts with the public by providing information on valuation issues or referrals to other departments or agencies as needed, resolving complaints
• Assists in training Apprentice Appraisers
• Performs routine maintenance of Assessor fleet vehicles
• Performs related duties as assigned

APPRAISER II
• Performs the duties of Appraiser I
• Assists at a higher level by working simple commercial properties and assisting with appeals
• Works with Apprentice Appraisers to give them other perspectives of the job
• Prepares data for presentation in the administrative appeals process
• Defends values at appeal hearings at the administrative level
• Researches market, cost and income/expense date to formulate an opinion of value

Qualifications

APPRENTICE APPRAISER:
One-year experience in a related field such as real estate or in the assessment field; OR, any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Must achieve Level 1 certification within one year of employment.

This position is non-exempt from overtime.

APPRAISER I
One-year experience in property appraisal as applied to the assessment field; OR, any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess Level 1 certification from the Arizona Department of Revenue. Must obtain an Arizona driver's license b date of hire and maintain it throughout employment.

This position is non-exempt from overtime.

APPRAISER II
Three years of experience in property appraisal as applied to the assessment field; OR, any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a Level 2 certification from the Arizona Department of Revenue. Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment.

Theideal candidate will have strong data entry and computer skills with excellent quality control practices; is proficient with word and excel; must possess excellent customer service skills and enjoy working in a team setting; have knowledge of appraisal terminology and has familiarity with Coconino County areas, is comfortable working in a fast paced environment; has ability to work with minimal supervision, has ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience performing discovery, measurement, verification, or other technical functions related to property appraisal and assessment
  • Experience with computer-assisted sketching or drawing programs
  • Experience with spreadsheets and other computer software programs

This position is non-exempt from overtime.
This position is safety sensitive.
