Please note: The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $89,721 to $140,361, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Montgomery County Crisis Center is currently recruiting for an experienced clinician with excellent communication skills to join our talented multi-disciplinary staff as a supervisory therapist. The Crisis Center is a dynamic 24/7 operation that provides phone, walk-in, residential and mobile crisis outreach services. Crisis Center staff are essential employees who provide critical behavioral health services to the community as well as provide supplemental crisis functions for multiple DHHS programs.

Examples of duties

• Supervises day-to-day program operations in a 24-hour crisis setting, providing clinical expertise and direction for a wide range of presenting clinical issues.

• Plans, assigns, reviews and evaluates the work of licensed therapists and other subordinate staff within the assigned program area.

• Shift coverage may include evenings and weekends.

• Develops and implements program activities and services, including training and educational activities.

• May include representing the Crisis Center on committees and task forces.

• Assures consistent application of and compliance with Federal, State, and County regulations, policies and procedures as they relate to crisis work and implementation of crisis services.

• Collaborates with other County, private, and non-profit programs and providers in coordinating best outcomes for clients receiving services at the Crisis Center.

• Participates in on-call rotation for 24/7 coverage with other Crisis Center Supervisors.

• This position is considered essential personnel for the Department of Health and Human Services during county emergencies.

This position is designated as Essential. The individual selected for this position will be considered an Essential Employee. Essential employees must report to work during a period of general emergency or liberal leave.

A driver's license is required as this supervisor will driver throughout the County to perform job duties. These positions are not remote and require the ability to work evenings, weekends, and as part of an on-call rotation.

The selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-placement medical exam, drug screening and a background check.

Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, nursing, or a related behavioral science field.

Experience: Four (4) years of professional clinical counseling experience including at least one (1) year at the supervisory/lead level.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:

One of the following licenses, issued by the State of Maryland, must be held, and maintained by, the employee:

• Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC);

• Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapy (LCMFT);

• Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC);

• Licensed Certified Social Worker/Clinical (LCSW-C);

• Licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner; or

• Licensed Psychologist.

Driver's License Required: Possession and maintenance at all times of a valid driver's license.

Supplemental information

The applications of those individuals meeting the minimum qualifications will be reviewed to determine the extent, relevance of training, and experience in the following areas:

• Licensed as a Board Approved Supervisor as pertinent to your Maryland clinical licensure.

• Experience working in a crisis behavioral health setting.

• Experience onducting behavioral health safety assessments and in initiating emergency evaluation petitions.

• Experience providing clinical services in the crisis services continuum.

• Describe your knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local regulations as they would apply to Mobile Crisis Outreach Teams.

• Experience working with public safety agencies in behavioral health service delivery.

Preference for interviews will be given to qualified candidates with experience in the following areas:

• Strong clinical experience working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in a crisis-oriented behavioral health setting.
• Strong leadership qualities and progressive responsibility as a behavioral health practitioner with a minimum of 5 years post-masters clinical experience.
• Experience and proficiency in writing emergency evaluation petitions, responding to high acuity crisis evaluations in community settings, and working with hospitals and community behavioral health providers in advocating for the most appropriate level of care for individuals in behavioral health crisis.
• Strong familiarity with professional ethics and privacy statutes while working in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Multilingual proficiency in Amharic, French or Spanish.
