Finished Goods Handler

At Utz Quality Foods, we have expanded our Kings Mountain, NC manufacturing facility and looking for a dedicated Finished Goods Handler to join our team. This hands-on role will involve material handling, operating a forklift, and supporting our packaging operations to ensure smooth and efficient production processes.

Rotating Schedule: Friday to Sunday and Thursday to Sunday 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM

Responsibilities:

  • Inspects forklifts and reports any damage or faulty equipment to the supervisor
  • Supports production with raw materials and assists with finished goods rotation as needed
  • Transports non-conforming goods and materials to the Hold area for quality disposition
  • Ensures that raw ingredients are not mixed in with any finished goods
  • Transports allergen raw materials to the correct storage racks isolated from other raw materials
  • Places finished good allergens (completed and overrun) in their designated spots in the plant
  • Ensures all unused portions of allergen raw materials, corrugate, and finished good overrun are labeled, covered, and weighed before returning them to their designated area in the plant
  • Leads by example in following GMPs, OSHA Safety, and all other procedures
  • Provides production with correct packaging materials, pallets, ingredients, and film
  • Wraps, tags, and transports finished goods from the production area to designated staging location
  • Uses FEFO (First Expired First Out) when pulling raw materials from storage to production lines
  • Uses FIFO (First In First Out) when storing finished product
  • Wraps, covers, and removes packaging or ingredients from the line after a run or a changeover
  • Places raw materials in a designated staging area for review by the shift supervisor prior to returning to stock
  • Checks the overrun area before each new run to see if there is product that can be rewrapped
  • Maintains good housekeeping practices, including consolidating locations when applicable
  • Adheres to UTZ's allergen control program and avoids cross contamination
  • Properly handles, stores, and distributes raw materials, finished goods, allergens, and identity claimed materials
  • Adheres to all UTZ's programs, policies, and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Requires basic math and reading skills.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a forklift license.
  • Requires knowledge of product quality and basic operations acquired through three months of training.
  • Ability to communicate production issues to fellow co-workers and supervision
  • The ability to prioritize workload to satisfy all production requirements.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and cleanliness.
  • Ability to work proactively within a diverse, cross-functional team.
  • Flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to operate production and data entry equipment.
  • Must follow all personal and food safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Must be able to stand most of the time.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 70lb’s.
  • Must be willing and able to work in / around consistently hot equipment and environments.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task.
  • Must be team oriented.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Must possess basic math skills.
  • Proficiency with basic hand tools.
  • Knowledge of safe operating practices involved in the use of lock-out/tag-out programs and food safety.
  • Experience with general mechanic tools (Allen wrenches, screw drivers, etc.).
