Digital Product Manager
- Yum! Brands
- Johannesburg, South Africa
- ZAR 800,000 – ZAR 1,200,000
Owns discovery, delivery, and operations for their assigned digital channel(s) (e.g., App, Web, Kiosk, WhatsApp, Aggregators) across all African markets. Aligns to the Channel Strategy and turns it into an executable product strategy and roadmap aligned with the D+T strategy and global standards. Looks after the end‑to‑end experience, functionality, and features: gathers and writes Business Requirement Specifications (BRS) and clear acceptance criteria, breaks down epics into well‑sliced user stories, and manages build and testing through to release and hypercare. Partners closely with Design/UX to ensure a frictionless customer experience that meets accessibility and brand standards. Ensures the channel is up and functioning with strong telemetry, reliability, and incident response.
What this role delivers:
- An outcome‑based product vision and roadmap aligned to the Channel Strategy, with measurable OKRs and prioritization by impact vs. effort.
- BRS/PRDs and acceptance criteria that translate customer and commercial needs into precise, testable requirements.
- A groomed backlog (epics → user stories) ready for delivery with clear definitions of ready/done and traceability to outcomes.
- Build, test, and release management in partnership with engineering, QA, and vendors—covering test plans, UAT, cutovers, and hypercare.
- Funnel and journey improvements that lift conversion, AOV, repeat rate, and satisfaction, verified through analytics and experimentation.
- Operational health: monitoring/alerts, SLOs, incident triage, and runbooks that keep channels available and performant across markets.
Communication Required:
- Channel Lead & Brand Manager: Align on channel strategy/OKRs, value propositions, offers, and growth experiments; agree trade‑offs and sequencing.
- CRM & Insights: Define segments, events, and success metrics; design tests; interpret results and decide next actions.
- Enablement Lead, Delivery Manager, Solution Architect: Validate designs against standards; plan releases/cutovers; manage risks and dependencies.
- Engineering & Vendors/Aggregators: Groom backlog, clarify scope, manage changes and SLAs; lead sprint ceremonies; track delivery to plan.
- QA/UAT & Customer Care/Operations: Define test plans and acceptance, coordinate UAT and sign‑off; close loop on incident themes and CX insights to prioritize fixes.
- Markets (country digital/ops leads): Coordinate readiness, content/menu requirements, payments/tender types, and training; gather local insights.
- Finance & Procurement: Support business cases, ROI/payback modeling, and vendor contracts aligned to roadmap.
Problem Solving & Analysis:
- Discovery & prioritization: Turn ambiguous problems into hypotheses and opportunity sizes; use evidence (data, research, financials) to rank options that best deliver the Channel Strategy.
- Requirements engineering: Write concise BRS/PRDs and acceptance criteria; decompose epics into small, testable stories; manage scope and dependencies.
- E‑commerce & CRO: Diagnose funnel drops (acquisition → login/onboarding → browse/menu → checkout → payment → fulfilment); improve conversion and AOV via merchandising, bundling, search/sort, and UX patterns.
- Quality & reliability: Specify NFRs and SLOs; ensure monitoring/alerts; lead defect triage; balance stability vs. features; ensure the channel is up and functioning.
- Technical integration: Integrate POS, CRM, loyalty, payments, and aggregators; manage versioning, timeouts, retries, and error handling.
- Experimentation: Design A/B and hold‑out tests; ensure proper power, guardrails, and read‑outs; scale winners and retire losers.
- Multi‑market complexity: Localize for tax, tender, language, regulation, connectivity while using a single design system and release train.
- Economics & ROI: Model impact on orders, revenue, margin %, contribution profit, and cost‑to‑serve; make trade‑offs explicit.
- Process design: Create/iterate workflows (definition of ready/done, go/no‑go, incident response) to improve predictability.
Innovation:
Enhances and creates new product processes and experiences. Pilots new UX patterns, payment methods, and platform capabilities; introduces better discovery practices (journey mapping, JTBD, rapid prototyping) and delivery practices (feature flags, canary releases) in line with standards.

- Working knowledge of APIs/integrations, payments, and non‑functional requirements (security, privacy, performance).
- Proficient in Agile practices (backlog, stories, grooming, sprint planning, retros) and product discovery (research, prototyping, usability).
- Excellent stakeholder management across marketing, engineering, operations, vendors, and multiple markets.
