Job Description Summary

The Model-Based Electrical Engineering Principal Engineer serves as a recognized subject matter expert and provides advanced technical leadership to the Engineering team. This role is responsible for driving engineering excellence, supporting mid-level complexity projects, and mentoring next generation engineers. The Principal Engineer collaborates cross-functionally to drive risk management while fostering innovative solutions to meet business and customer solutions.
This Principal Engineer role is a critical bridge between traditional electrical engineering and modern digital methodologies (MBE3.0).

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a recognized technical authority within the Generator & Electrical System team, setting standards and influencing key engineering decisions
  • Lead the development and implementation of MBE strategies for electrical systems
  • Share and contribute to maintain/improve digital tools & models for Electrical Systems Engineering Equipment and processes,
  • Evaluate and select appropriate software, and platforms for MBE.
  • Implement best practices and standards for model-based engineering in the electrical domain.
  • Lead end-to-end design, analysis, and implementation of engineering solutions for moderate-to-high complexity projects.
  • Own critical projects and technical deliverables that contribute to the success of Model-Based Electrical Engineering within Generator & Electrical System team and cross-functionnel teams.
  • Act as a primary subject matter expert within Model-Based Electrical Engineering, providing technical guidance to project teams, stakeholders, suppliers, and field support.
  • Review and approve engineering documentation, analyses, and deliverables to ensure compliance with internal standards and external requirements.
  • Collaborate directly with the Generator & Electrical System Senior Principal Engineers to review designs, align strategy, and provide technical direction.
  • Identify technical risks, lead cross-functional problem resolution, and define effective mitigations at the system level.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, regulations, and industry trends to drive innovation and maintain technical relevance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements using Lean principles, data, and AI-enabled tools to improve safety, quality, and cost.
  • Mentor and coach developing engineers, support knowledge sharing, and help identify and close skill gaps across the team.
  • Lead development of technical standards, best practices, and team culture that promotes inclusion, accountability, and high performance.

Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in the field of gas turbine electrical engineering and design, development, and tools
  • Understanding of how electrical systems interface with other engineering disciplines (e.g., controls, mechanical, …)
  • This role requires major experience in Engineering/Technology & Services Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Master’s degree from an accredited university or college
  • Demonstrated expertise in subject matter area.
