Your Mission

The Financial Management Intern supports Protect.ngo’s Finance & Governance Manager in maintaining accurate records, strengthening financial processes, and ensuring compliance with donor and regulatory requirements. This role is ideal for students seeking hands‑on experience in nonprofit financial operations.

Your Objectives & Contributions

  • Accounts Payable & Receivable
    • Ensure timely payment and reconciliation of invoices.
    • Track accounts receivable and their impact on the budget runway.
  • Budget Support
    • Assist in preparing project budgets, updating budget trackers, reviewing spending against approved allocations, and tracking cash flow.
  • Financial Reporting
    • Help compile monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and the Executive Board.
  • Fund Management & Compliance
    • Assist with accurate tracking of restricted funds.
    • Assist in the preparation of reports for donors.
  • Audit Preparation
    • Support the Finance & Governance Manager in organizing documentation for external audits.
  • Process Improvement
    • Assist in the implementation of streamlined financial processes and development of SOPs.

Your Experience, Skills & Attribute

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or a related field.
  • Interest in civil society and non-profit work.
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken (C2 level)
  • Strong numerical reasoning and attention to detail.
  • Basic proficiency in Excel; familiarity with accounting tools is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with diverse teams.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and responsible financial stewardship.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong knowledge of excel functions - pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data cleaning, etc.
  • Prior volunteer or internship experience in nonprofit settings.

Additional Information

  • Requirement: tripartite internship convention/agreementprovided by the school/University
