External Affairs Superintendent

Summary

We are seeking an experienced External Affairs Superintendent (Industrial Estate) for IKIP Project to join our team in Southeast Sulawesi on a full-time basis. This is a strategic role that plays a crucial part in managing external relationships and affairs associated with the development and operations of the industrial estate supporting our IKIP Project. Reporting to senior management, you will serve as a key liaison between the company, government agencies, local communities, and other external stakeholders. This position requires someone who can navigate complex stakeholder environments whilst maintaining our commitment to responsible resource development and community engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive external affairs strategies for the industrial estate component of the IKIP Project
  • Manage relationships with government agencies at local, provincial and national levels to ensure regulatory compliance and support for project development
  • Oversee community engagement initiatives and maintain positive relations with local communities affected by or adjacent to industrial estate operations
  • Coordinate with local stakeholders, including community leaders, civil society organisations and indigenous groups, to address concerns and build consensus
  • Monitor and assess the regulatory and social landscape, identifying potential risks and opportunities for the project
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and reports to senior management and external stakeholders on external affairs matters
  • Support the development of social and economic development programmes that benefit local communities
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, permits and licensing requirements for the industrial estate
  • Manage crisis communication protocols and respond to issues affecting external relations
  • Collaborate with internal teams including operations, environment and legal departments to ensure coordinated external engagement

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in external affairs, stakeholder management, government relations or community engagement, preferably within the mining, resources or large-scale industrial development sectors
  • Proven experience managing complex relationships with multiple stakeholder groups including government agencies, communities and civil society organisations
  • Strong understanding of Indonesian regulatory frameworks, particularly those relating to industrial development, land use, environmental management and social licensing
  • Excellent command of both Indonesian and English languages, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic engagement plans that balance commercial objectives with community interests
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to build trust across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Experience working in or with Southeast Sulawesi, or similar remote resource-dependent regions, is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of industrial estate development and operations is preferred
  • Tertiary qualification in public relations, communications, business, law, social sciences or related field is advantageous
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments and adapt to changing project dynamics
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
