Heavy Duty Driver

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate assigned heavy-duty waste collection vehicles.
• Execute scheduled waste collection routes efficiently and on time.
• Operate compactor, Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo), and skip-loader systems as assigned.
• Load, transport, and offload waste and containers safely.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report defects promptly.
• Monitor vehicle condition, fuel consumption and equipment performance.
• Ensure proper loading, weight distribution and securement of containers.
• Apply defensive driving and safe operating practices at all times.
• Report accidents, breakdowns, delays, missed collections, and other incidents.
• Maintain accurate trip, inspection, and fuel records.
• Maintain the assigned vehicle in a clean and serviceable condition.
• Comply with company HSE requirements, traffic laws, and operational procedures.
• Work closely with waste collection crews and supervisors to ensure efficient service delivery.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: KCSE or equivalent or a certificate in Automotive Engineering/Transport Operations is an advantage.
• A Valid Kenyan heavy commercial driving licence (BCE or applicable class).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience driving heavy commercial vehicles; waste collection experience is an added advantage.
• Certifications: Medical fitness certificate; Defensive Driving Certificate is preferred.
