Riccarton Clinic is a well-established, multidisciplinary healthcare provider located at Church Corner in Upper Riccarton, Christchurch. We offer both comprehensive General Practice and accredited Urgent Care services, delivering a wide range of healthcare support to promote the physical and mental wellbeing of our community. General Practice services operate on weekdays, while our Urgent Care service is open from 8.00am to 8.00pm, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

About the role:

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and patient-centred Physician Associate (PA) to join our multidisciplinary General Practice and Urgent Care team on a full-time basis working a minimum of 30 hours per week. As a Physician Associate, you will contribute to the delivery of accessible, high-quality healthcare services to individuals, whānau, and communities. Working under the supervision of a registered medical practitioner and in accordance with your approved scope of practice, you will assess, diagnose, and support the management of a broad range of acute and long-term health conditions.

This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Health Care Assistants, and other health professionals to provide safe, equitable, and culturally responsive care. Key accountabilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

• Practise within the requirements of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act, Medical Council of New Zealand requirements, and the agreed supervision framework.
• Undertake comprehensive patient assessments, including obtaining medical histories, performing physical examinations, and formulating differential diagnoses.
• Assist Medical Practitioners with patients' medicine therapy.
• Assist with clinical procedures and interventions appropriate to training, competence, and delegated authority.
• Assist Medical Practitioners diagnose patients' illnesses and diseases, and administering radiation treatment;
• Uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and contribute to equitable health outcomes for Māori and all population groups.

We’re looking for a motivated and reliable individual who thrives in a busy and team-oriented environmentand who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and delivering high-quality urgent care. In addition, we are looking for someone who has:

• A degree level qualification related to the role and/or at least five years of clinical experience in Urgent Care or General Practice within the last ten years.
• Ability to work safely and effectively under clinical supervision within an agreed scope of practice.
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and patient management skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• A commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to inclusive, equitable healthcare delivery.
