The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognized regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality, and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises of five major operational sections: Epidemiology & biostatistics, Health policy & management, Population & reproductive health, Environmental health & climate change, and non-communicable diseases & mental health.

This is a grant funded contractual position.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

• assisting the National Coordinator, CMU, in day-to-day laboratory-related matters, including TB laboratory network coordination
• serving as the primary liaison between the Office of the National Coordinator and the AKU team on laboratory-related coordination and follow-up
• tracking and following-up on pending laboratory issues, action points and correspondence
• undertaking field visits to assess the status of TB laboratories, as assigned
• assessing laboratory infrastructure, staffing, equipment functionality and reporting practices during field visits
• preparing monthly summaries on TB laboratory network status, updates and pending issues
• maintaining an updated tracker of laboratory-related action points and their resolution status
• preparing ad hoc briefing notes or summaries as requested by the National Coordinator.

Requirements:

You should have:

• a Master’s degree in microbiology or equivalent qualification from an HEC recognized or foreign university/institution
• minimum five years of relevant experience
• demonstrable, relevant experience working with a TB laboratory and/or a national research institute
• good coordination, communication, organizational and follow-up skills
• willingness to undertake field visits as required by the assignment.
