The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognised regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality, and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises five major operational sections: Epidemiology & biostatistics, Health policy & management, Population & reproductive health, Environmental health & climate change, and non-communicable diseases & mental health.

About the Project
Aga Khan University is implementing AFGHS - AKU, a 12-month integrated health systems project focused primarily on Sindh, with coordinated linkages at the federal level, to strengthen health security, immunisation and disease control systems in Pakistan. The project works across tuberculosis, polio, routine immunisation and Global Health Security, including integrated human, animal and environmental health approaches. It aims to strengthen government systems, health information and surveillance, laboratory and supply systems, outbreak preparedness, and sustainable, country-led health systems.

Key Components
1. Tuberculosis (TB)
The TB component focuses on strengthening TB prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment and referral systems across Sindh, including TB-intensive districts. The component will support active case finding, TB preventive treatment, contact investigation, drug-resistant TB management and public-private engagement. It will also strengthen hospital linkages, mobile screening, laboratory and diagnostic capacity, community outreach and the overall TB care cascade.

2. EPI, Polio & GHS – One Health
This component focuses on strengthening routine immunisation, polio eradication and Global Health Security systems through improved coverage, surveillance, outbreak preparedness and response. It will support stronger government-led systems, data and information platforms, Emergency Operations Centres, Rapid Response Teams and Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response, while promoting coordinated human, animal and environmental health approaches.

This is a grant funded contractual position.

Responsibilities
You will be responsible to:
• support the planning, coordination and implementation of assigned programme activities in accordance with approved work plans and project objectives
• manage day-to-day programme activities and ensure timely delivery of assigned outputs and milestones
• coordinate with internal teams, government counterparts, development partners and other relevant stakeholders
• provide oversight and guidance to programme and technical teams and support effective team performance
• monitor programme progress, targets, indicators and deliverables and identify areas requiring follow-up
• support data review, documentation and reporting for programme monitoring and decision-making
• coordinate field activities, meetings, reviews and other programme-related engagements
• contribute to the preparation of technical reports, presentations, briefs, donor submissions and other project deliverables
• identify implementation challenges and support the development and follow-up of appropriate solutions
• ensure activities are implemented in line with approved project plans, relevant policies, guidelines and donor requirements
• maintain effective coordination and communication across project components to support integrated implementation
• support stakeholder engagement and represent the programme in relevant meetings, as required
• perform any other responsibilities assigned by the Project Lead/Project Director.

Requirements
You should have:
• Master's degree in Public Health, Health Management, Epidemiology or a related field from an HEC recognised or reputable foreign university/institution; medical qualification will be an advantage
• at least ten years' of relevant experience in public health, health systems, programme management or a related field
• demonstrated experience in managing and coordinating complex health programmes or projects
• experience working with government health departments, public-sector programmes and other key stakeholders
• experience in planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of donor-funded programmes
• experience in supervising and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
• strong programme management, organisational and coordination skills
• good understanding of monitoring, data review, reporting and performance management
• strong communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
• sound analytical and problem-solving abilities
• ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables within timelines
• willingness and ability to travel to programme sites as required.
