Responsibilities:

The Clinical Informatics Specialist will support the implementation, optimization, and effective adoption of EHR systems by translating clinical workflows and requirements into standardized clinical content and system solutions. The role will collaborate with clinical, IT, quality, research, and informatics teams to improve clinical workflows, data quality, reporting, and system usability. The position will also provide user training, go-live support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement, while contributing to clinical research, education, analytics, and informatics initiatives. Reporting to the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO), you will be responsible for:

Support the EHR implementation and optimization by coordinating clinical workflows, standardized content, documentation standards, and performance measures with relevant clinical and technical teams.
Serve as a key liaison between clinical, informatics, and IT teams, translating clinical requirements into system enhancements and ensuring alignment across EHR initiatives.
Analyze clinical workflows, identify gaps, and recommend process and system improvements to enhance clinical efficiency, EHR utilization, and user experience.
Provide EHR training, go-live support, troubleshooting, and ongoing user assistance to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Support clinical data reporting, performance monitoring, research, analytics, and educational initiatives through effective use of EHR information.
Participate in focus groups and informatics workgroups to gather user requirements, feedback, and enhancement opportunities and support their implementation.
Contribute to the development and standardization of clinical methodologies, EHR content, workflows, and data practices.
Support clinical and medical researchers with data generation, analysis, interpretation, and research-related EHR requirements.
Collaborate with informatics teams across relevant locations to promote consistent EHR content, workflows, analytics, and best practices.
Provide ongoing support for EHR programme activities, including implementation, optimization, change management, and continuous improvement.
Contribute to clinical education and training initiatives through effective use of EHR systems and informatics resources.
Undertake occasional travel and on-site support as required by EHR programme activities and operational needs. and location; frequency will vary depending on programme requirements.

Requirements:

The incumbent must have:

Graduate of a Medical College (MBBS, MBChB, or MD).
Completion of structured postgraduate clinical training.
Clinical rotation experience; experience at AKU is preferred.
Demonstrated experience in direct patient care.
Clinical training and experience in inpatient and outpatient care settings.
Sound knowledge of hospital and physician practice procedures, regulations, standards, and guidelines.
Experience participating in clinical research studies is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Physicians, Nurses, Residents, Students, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Prior experience using an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system is preferred.
Strong understanding of healthcare operations, clinical workflows, and EHR systems.
Strong project management and coordination skills, with the ability to work across multiple teams and manage timelines.
Understanding of how data and analytics can be used to improve clinical, operational, quality, and financial outcomes.
Willingness to develop subject-matter expertise in assigned clinical workflows, including inpatient, outpatient, peri-operative, or oncology-related areas, and associated data flows.
Solid understanding of clinical care pathways, order management, and physician documentation.
Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
