Senior Sustainability Engineer

Sustainability professional with 5+ years of experience in sustainable building design, energy efficiency, low-carbon solutions, and green-building assessments. Skilled in LEED/Mostadam, sustainability strategies, energy and carbon reduction, design reviews, gap analysis, and feasibility studies. Proficient in CAD, GIS, modelling, data analysis, and technical reporting. Experienced in client and stakeholder management, project coordination, and developing practical sustainability solutions. Strong technical, analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.

  • Provide strategic advice on low-energy, low-carbon, and sustainable building design solutions.

  • Work with key client stakeholders to develop and implement project and organizational sustainability strategies.

  • Identify sustainability risks, recommend mitigation measures, and identify opportunities to enhance sustainability performance and credentials.

  • Conduct sustainability pre-assessments and provide design recommendations to achieve targeted building ratings and performance objectives.

  • Undertake gap analysis and prepare reports where the desired sustainability or certification rating is not achievable, including recommendations for improvement.

  • Monitor the design process to ensure sustainability objectives, project requirements, and client expectations are incorporated and maintained throughout project development.

  • Prepare low- and zero-carbon technology feasibility studies, energy statements, and supporting documentation for planning and authority approvals.

  • Develop design and sustainability models using CAD, GIS, mapping technologies, and other relevant tools to support engineering and sustainability solutions.

  • Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data, manage client projects, provide regular progress updates, and maintain current building assessment information.

  • Prepare technical reports, client portfolios, bids, and proposals while providing additional technical and sustainability support to the wider team.

  • Informs themselves of the relevant Quality, Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health Policies, Manuals and Procedures within Hill International and ensures continued compliance with these requirements while employed by Hill.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager/supervisor

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Architecture, or related field; Master’s degree and LEED certification preferred.

  • Minimum 12 years relevent experience and 5 years of sustainability experience, preferably in buildings, construction, or engineering.

  • Strong knowledge of green-building principles, LEED/Mostadam requirements, energy efficiency, water conservation, and sustainable materials.

  • Good understanding of decarbonization, low-carbon building design, renewable energy, embodied carbon, and operational carbon reduction.

  • Strong engineering knowledge with the ability to review designs, assess building systems, and evaluate sustainable products and materials.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with excellent technical report writing, documentation, and sustainability assessment skills.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering, design, construction, and client teams.
