ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD.
At AMD, we believe technology has the power to solve the world’s most important challenges. From advancing healthcare and scientific discovery to powering AI and the technologies people rely on every day, innovation at AMD is shaping the future.
Whether you’re designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or bringing leading edge products to market, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger — technology that moves the world forward. Join us and, together, we’ll advance your career.
THE ROLE:
Join the team that brings AMD’s next-generation data center and server processors to life. The Diagnostics team develops tests and suites that exercise and validate the hardware blocks in the graphics and compute processors developed at AMD. We understand the features that go into the hardware design and have the software skills to program them to life. Once developed, these diagnostics are used throughout the product lifecycle, from pre-silicon validation through production.
The successful candidate will lead a global development team responsible for high-speed interconnect and system-level coverage. You will shape validation strategy, solve complex hardware/software challenges, and apply modern development practices—including AI-assisted tools—to improve quality and time to delivery.
THE PERSON:
You are a collaborative technical leader who enjoys turning complex challenges into practical solutions. You can set direction, develop people, influence across organizations, and deliver against ambitious schedules without losing sight of quality. If you are excited by the intersection of hardware, software, and large-scale product impact, we encourage you to apply.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead with end-to-end ownership of the quality, coverage, and completeness of Diagnostics on Data Center and Server programs.
- Highlight project goals, strategies, risks, and key requirements for Diagnostics, tools, and frameworks to help program managers, managers, IP stakeholders, and framework architects enable coverage defined in the test plan.
- Drive technical requirements and software/firmware dependencies to achieve feature coverage and hardware bug-capture targets.
- Own SoC system-level feature validation methodology and planning, including multi-IP use-case verification, system-level power and performance evaluation, and stress tests.
- Drive pre-silicon emulation strategy and planning across software and hardware emulation models, including RTL coverage requirements before silicon tape-out.
- Extend diagnostics coverage into ATE and functional-test production screening by developing effective test sequences and patterns.
- Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to meet or exceed key program milestones and deliverables for bring-up, feature validation, performance profiling, and production support.
- Improve feature coverage, reduce test time, strengthen development processes, and drive innovation.
- Lead the resolution of critical technical challenges, including complex issue debugging and triage toward root cause and coverage enhancements.
- Develop talent and influence cross-functional stakeholders
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience leading software or firmware teams that deliver complex, cross-functional products.
- Hands-on background in diagnostics, device drivers, firmware, embedded software, or large-scale Linux system software.
- Solid understanding of PC, SoC, or GPU architecture, including PCIe or other high-speed interconnects, memory subsystems, and caches.
- Demonstrated success partnering with hardware designers, architects, validation teams, and manufacturing teams to resolve functional and production issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across globally distributed teams.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools or applying AI techniques to improve software quality, automation, debugging, or engineering productivity.
- Experience with ATE platforms, wafer sort, functional test, or production-screening pattern development
- Proficiency in modern C++ and familiarity with ROCm or a comparable GPU programming environment is an asset.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
