Tech Lead Backend Engineer - Trust and Safety Platform

The Trust and Safety(TnS) engineering team dedicated to maintaining a safe and trustworthy environment for users of TikTok. By developing and continuously improving machine learning models and information systems, the team aims to identify and monitor risks earlier and more efficiently, while responding rapidly to emerging incidents.
Leveraging AI technologies, the team supports business growth by building more efficient, agile, and comprehensive capabilities to safeguard the health and safety of the platform ecosystem.

• Lead platform-side development for systems and product capabilities related to community safety across TikTok, including but not limited to content understanding, risk identification, policy/strategy generation, automated enforcement, and operational efficiency. Collaborate closely with product, algorithm, and other cross-functional teams, develop a deep understanding of community safety and content moderation scenarios, and continuously improve related systems and capabilities.
• Own the team’s technical planning and roadmap, and continuously drive incremental value across areas such as technical architecture, business impact, product development and operational efficiency, service quality, and system stability.
• Own team goal setting and project execution, while supporting the development, coaching, and growth of team members.

Minimum Qualification(s)

• 5+ years of development experience in Golang, Java, Python, or JavaScript, with strong programming fundamentals and a solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and mainstream middleware technologies.
• Strong capabilities in complex system architecture design and governance, with the ability to effectively abstract and decompose complex business logic. Strong analytical thinking, abstraction skills, and the ability to synthesize and summarize complex problems.
• Proficient in AI-assisted coding, with hands-on experience in building Skills and Agents to solve real-world problems.
• Proven ability and experience in initiating, driving, and delivering large-scale, complex projects involving multiple cross-functional teams.
• Strong communication skills and business/product acumen, with the ability to quickly understand business requirements and application scenarios. Demonstrates strong capability in bridging technology with business needs. Proficiency in English communication is required.
• Strong capabilities in team management, stakeholder communication and coordination, and project execution.

Preferred Qualification(s)

• Hands-on experience in building and deploying AI Agents and full-stack development experience
• Experience leading teams and managing complex cross-functional initiatives
