Hardware Intern

About our group:

We build the electrical brains behind the world’s data.

Our team designs, integrates, and validates the electrical systems that power Seagate’s storage platforms—from first schematics and PCB bring-up to system-level testing and high-volume manufacturing. Every signal, every interface, and every watt is engineered to perform reliably at scale.

In today’s AI-driven world, where everything depends on data, our work powers the infrastructure behind cloud, enterprise, and next-generation AI. We don’t just build hardware—we ensure it works, scales, and delivers.

About the role - you will:

  • Partner with EMC engineers to translate complex, customer-required test methodologies into automated, scalable solutions
  • Develop Python-based tools to drive efficient, repeatable, and high-quality EMC testing
  • Gain hands-on experience with real hardware, executing and analyzing electromagnetic compliance tests in a lab environment
  • Improve lab efficiency by optimizing test workflows, reducing cycle time, and enabling faster engineering decisions
  • Play a role in ensuring products meet stringent customer and regulatory EMC requirements

About you:

We are looking for someone who is technically curious, hands-on, and eager to take ownership of real engineering work.

  • Pursuing a degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience with Python or scripting for automation, data analysis, or instrumentation control
  • Strong interest in hardware systems, signal integrity, or EMC/EMI concepts
  • Comfortable working in a lab environment—probing, measuring, and debugging real systems
  • Analytical thinker who enjoys breaking down complex problems and iterating on solutions
  • Proactive, disciplined, and able to drive tasks independently

Your experience includes:

  • Academic or project experience in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field
  • Exposure to Python or scripting for automation, data analysis, or instrument control
  • Coursework or hands-on experience in electronics, signal behavior, or measurement techniques
  • Experience with lab equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers) is an advantage
  • Familiarity with RF, EMI/EMC, or high-speed interfaces is a plus

Location:

The Shugart site (named after Seagate’s founder, Al Shugart) is a research and design center. Easily accessible from the One-North MRT Station, many employees choose to take mass transportation to work. Being a purpose-built building, The Shugart has excellent employee recreational facilities. Take an active break at our badminton courts, table tennis tables, in-house gym, and recreation rooms. Our yoga and Zumba classes are very popular. We also offer classes and interest groups in photography, gardening, and foreign languages, and have various on-site celebrations, and community volunteer opportunities.
