The RN Clinic, Rheumatology provides specialized nursing care to patients with autoimmune, inflammatory, and musculoskeletal conditions within an outpatient clinic setting. This role performs focused patient assessments, assists with medication administration and infusion support, and coordinates care to promote symptom management and improved functional outcomes. Working collaboratively with rheumatology providers, laboratory services, and interdisciplinary clinic teams, the RN helps ensure timely evaluation, ongoing monitoring, and coordinated treatment plans. The position functions within a supportive, specialty-focused environment where communication, teamwork, and attention to detail are essential. Key Responsibilities:

Perform rheumatology-focused assessments, administer medications and injections, and assist providers with examinations and symptom-management interventions.
Coordinate diagnostic testing, laboratory monitoring, imaging, referrals, and follow-up appointments to support accurate diagnosis and ongoing disease management.
Document assessments, interventions, and patient education thoroughly in the electronic health record in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
Educate patients and caregivers on medication regimens, monitoring requirements, lifestyle strategies, and management of chronic rheumatologic conditions.
Collaborate with providers, infusion services, and interdisciplinary teams to address changes in condition, monitor treatment effectiveness, and support safe care transitions.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, maintain competency in point-of-care testing, and complete required training to support specialized rheumatology practice.

Qualifications: Licenses and Certifications Required:

Current or temporary RN license in ND or compact RN licensure.
CPR required within orientation period.
Ongoing Point of Care certifications as required for department required within orientation period.

Educational Requirements:

RN program as evidenced by licensure.
BSN preferred.

Experience Requirements:

One year or more of professional nursing experience preferred.
Clinic experience preferred.
Coding experience preferred.

Special Skills or Training Requirements:

May include travel to satellites.
Computer use.
Trinity community clinics draw and package lab tests.

Physical Requirements:

The RN Clinic, Rheumatology frequently stands, walks, and moves between exam rooms while supporting patient evaluations and clinical workflows. The role involves bending, reaching, and lifting or carrying supplies, equipment, and occasionally assisting patients with mobility limitations. Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity are essential for performing assessments, administering injections, and documenting accurately.

Environmental Requirements:

Work occurs in an outpatient rheumatology clinic with regular exposure to patients managing chronic autoimmune and inflammatory disorders. Responsibilities may include handling laboratory specimens, working with disinfectants, and following strict infection-control and PPE protocols. The environment may vary in pace with fluctuating patient volumes and symptom acuity, requiring flexibility, attention to detail, and adherence to regulatory and confidentiality standards.
