A Brief Overview
Supports the accuracy, completion, and integrity of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) by managing Epic work queues, resolving documentation deficiencies, duplicate Patients, and incomplete records, and processing patient, provider, audit, and release‑of‑information requests. Ensures compliance with organizational policy, regulatory standards, and timelines while providing coverage for Health Information Specialist functions.
What You Will Do
- Monitors, investigates and resolves issues concerning the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Verifies, merges and resolves duplicate MRN assignments when identified
- Assists with patient-initiated amendment requests
- Maintain and manages s assigned Epic work queues and in-basket work pools
- Assists with un-coded accounts pended for missing notes and communicates to appropriate physicians for completion.
- Analyzes medical record for documentation deficiencies and reconciles note and order refusals in EMR.
- Performs weekly incomplete notification and suspension process and administratively closes records
- Processes MyChart Proxy requests and generates invites to patient-assigned designee
- Coordinates and processes governmental payer audits & other PHI requests, including RAC and post-payment denial audits
- Enters birth certificate data into Ohio Department of Health system
- Processes, notarizes and certifies copies of medical records to various requesters
- Provides coverage for Health Information Specialist
Additional Responsibilities
- Appears for subpoenas in absence of manager or coordinator
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Equivalent / GED (Required)
- Associate's Degree Health Information Management Technology (Preferred)
Work Experience
- 2+ years Health Information Services/Medical Records Experience (Required) or
- Associates or Bachelors in Health Information Management Technology in lieu of experience (Required)
