Raleigh Water is the City of Raleigh’s publicly owned water utility, providing clean, award-winning drinking water and reliable wastewater services to residents across Raleigh and its merger communities. The Staff Analyst supports this mission by ensuring data used across Raleigh Water’s systems is accurate, complete, and usable. This role performs systematic validation of records, executes data cleanup and housekeeping activities to archive legacy information and upload new documents, and conducts ongoing audits to keep systems up-to-date. The position partners with operations and technology teams to implement quality controls, document standards, and continuous improvements for data integrity and compliance.

You are comfortable working with spreadsheets, document repositories, and business systems, and you communicate clearly about findings, risks, and next steps.

This is a part-time, temporary position not to exceed 1,000 worked per year.

- Validate data in Raleigh Water systems to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency
- Execute cleanup/housekeeping to archive outdated or redundant records in accordance with retention standards
- Prepare, upload, and index new documents and metadata so information is searchable and retrievable
- Conduct recurring audits and exception reviews; document findings and drive corrective updates
- Develop and maintain checklists, SOPs, and dashboards for data quality controls and monitoring
- Collaborate with system owners to resolve data issues, standardize formats, and improve workflows
- Track work in spreadsheets or ticketing tools; produce status reports and metrics on backlog closure and audit outcomes.
- Support training and user guidance on document standards, naming conventions, and retention practices
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency and 1 year experience in data management, records management, document control, or a related field
OR
Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (4-year) in business, information management, public administration, or related field
- 3+ years of experience performing data validation, document control, or system auditing in a government or utility environment
- Intermediate proficiency with spreadsheets and document repositories; familiarity with data quality principles and retention policies
