Associate Director, Program Management

Salary Range: $75,000 - $82,000

Position Summary
Education Abroad and Overseas Campuses serves as the central unit responsible for promoting and facilitating education abroad at Temple University. Education Abroad administers academic year, semester, and summer study abroad programs hosted by Temple’s overseas campuses in Rome, Italy and Tokyo, Japan; offered through exchange and other institutional partners around the globe and developed and led by Temple faculty members. Enrolling and serving an average of 1400 Temple and non-Temple students a year, the Education Abroad team is committed to providing transformative global learning experiences that prepare the diverse students from Temple and our U.S. partner institutions to develop as engaged global citizens, collective problem-solvers, and leaders in their chosen field.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Education Abroad and Overseas Campuses, the Associate Director of Program Management, is responsible for the administration and daily operations for Temple study abroad programs. They oversee the student application process, and design and implement a student-centered strategy for enrollment, advising, retention, preparation, and support, with consideration to enhance inclusion in study abroad and support students from diverse backgrounds.

The Associate Director collaborates with program leaders, on-site staff and partners, and Education Abroad staff on travel and immigration, student housing, health and wellbeing, conduct, and other logistics to ensure the delivery of quality programming and services in line with established standards for study abroad.

The Associate Director leads a team of Program Managers who advise, admit, and prepare applicants, and ensures excellence in these areas as well as the overall customer service approach among the team. The Associate Director works with colleagues to address and resolve student issues before departure and on-site, including academic, student life, and wellbeing concerns. With the Executive Director, they support and implement crisis management and health and safety protocols.

The Associate Director participates in the promotion of international education across the university and at partner institutions. The position reports to the Executive Director of Education Abroad with a dotted line to the Senior Associate Director.

Job Details
* This position requires a background check for PII/Cash Handling responsibilities.

Required Education and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree
* At least five (5) years of experience in higher education, preferably in an international programs office
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience
* Master’s degree
* Experience with inclusion initiatives and supporting students from varied backgrounds
* Experience with databases/CRMs and data management
* Experience with Slate and Banner
* International experience, living or studying abroad

Required Skills and Abilities
* Demonstrated understanding of the international education field and best practices in education abroad
* Experience in international education program management and admissions
* Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, complex and changing environment while prioritizing time-sensitive and conflicting demands
* Commitment to student service and understanding of best practices in student advising
* Ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituents
* Strong organizational skills and managerial leadership skills
* Previous experience supervising staff
* Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
* Experience in crisis management and managing student emergencies
* Demonstrated ability to remain calm, multi-task, and prioritize in the face of challenging and unusual situations involving students
* Proficient with Microsoft Office

* International experience, living or studying abroad.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote) – the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
