We are seeking a compassionate, dependable Driver/Transportation Aide to provide safe transportation and supportive assistance to our Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Health Care Center residents.

What You’ll Do

• Safely transport residents to local and out-of-town medical appointments, hospitals, and testing appointments.
• Remain with residents when they cannot safely be left unattended.
• Assist residents in and out of vehicles and medical facilities.
• Transport laboratory specimens to local hospitals as needed.
• Pick up resident medications from local pharmacies.
• Assist with weekly personal shopping for Assisted Living and Health Care residents.
• Assist with onsite physician visits, including obtaining vital signs and helping residents access exam rooms.
• Support the clinic coordinator with appointment scheduling, appointment slips, and medical record filing.
• Dispense pharmacy-delivered prescription medications to Independent Living residents as needed.
• Coordinate routine non-medical clinic activities when the clinic coordinator is unavailable.
• Keep the medical transportation vehicle clean, fueled, and ready for use.
• Maintain clear communication with the Director of Nursing regarding schedules, time off, and resident relations.
• Provide respectful, positive service to residents, families, visitors, and the community.
• Follow all resident rights, confidentiality, infection-control, safety, and loss-prevention policies.
• Participate in required training and fire/disaster drills.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Current, unencumbered Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in Virginia.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Demonstrated driving skills and/or a minimum of two years of prior driving experience.
• Ability to meet the requirements of the Community Driving Policy.
• Ability to safely transport long-term care residents.
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively and positively with residents, families, supervisors, and coworkers.
• Knowledge or experience in long-term/gerontological care.
• Ability to work a schedule determined by the Director of Nursing or Assisted Living Administrator, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Certifications:

• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required within 60 days of hire.

Physical Requirements

• Lifting: Up to 50 pounds
• Carrying: Up to 20 pounds
• Pushing/Pulling: Up to 100 pounds
• Ability to safely operate transportation and other equipment required for the position.
