Engineer 2, EHS

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Implement and administer EHS programs and procedures in compliance with ISO standards and legal requirements.
  • Conduct audits and reviews, recommend corrective actions, and monitor improvement progress.
  • Manage contractor safety, permits-to-work, and EHS reporting.
  • Continuously review company-wide risk assessments and implement preventive measures.
  • Support local EHS performance reviews, identify trends, and participate in problem-solving activities.
  • Ensure all licenses, reports, and documentation are accurate, updated, and compliant with government and corporate requirements.
  • Provide EHS training to employees and support Emergency Response Team (ERT) development.
  • Support EHS campaigns, communication programs, and internal audits.
  • Report quality high risk events to supervisors.
  • Report unsafe behaviors to supervisors.
  • Report to next managing levels when my supervisor does the wrong thing without the correction.
  • Access to some manufacturing methodologies and proprietary process information.
  • Confidential information: Communicate about incident/accident
  • Ask employees to stop production, work and do corrective actions when detecting inconsistent with the environmental policy of the company.
  • Ensure all documents will be kept and updated based on regulations.
  • Support other assigned tasks from department operations. Involve company activities such as internal audit, communication, EHS campaigns….
  • Respond to requirements by EHS manager.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 3 yr. experience in EHS field.
  • Experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/science, major in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Chemical Engineering, or related field.

All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.

Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
