Engineer - Product Development

Based at Ayathi, Biyagama

We are looking for an individual who is responsible for developing and optimizing products through design, testing, and validation activities while working closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams. The role ensures products meet quality, performance, and manufacturability requirements while supporting innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead product development activities from concept to commercialization, ensuring product designs meet customer expectations, quality standards, and manufacturing requirements.
• Develop and validate product designs, including material selection, process definition, and prototype development to achieve desired product performance.
• Collaborate with customers and cross functional teams to clarify technical requirements, review feedback, and incorporate design changes into product development.
• Provide accurate technical information and specifications to support BOM creation, costing, capacity planning, and production readiness.
• Plan and coordinate development trials, sampling activities, testing, and pilot runs to ensure successful product validation and industrialization.
• Evaluate new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes to enhance product quality, performance, and innovation.
• Analyze technical issues during development and provide effective solutions to ensure timelines and quality standards are achieved.
• Maintain accurate technical records, style files, and development documentation while communicating updates to relevant stakeholders.
• Support knowledge sharing and training initiatives to enhance team capability and technical expertise.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements throughout the development process.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in product development, engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of product development processes, manufacturing techniques, and material selection.
• Knowledge of technical documentation, product specifications, BOM preparation, and product validation processes.
• Ability to evaluate new technologies, materials, and process improvements to support innovation initiatives.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across cross functional teams and customers.
• Good project coordination and planning capabilities with the ability to manage multiple development activities simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and engineering related tools.
• Self-driven with a continuous learning mindset and the ability to adapt to evolving technologies and customer requirements.
