Role Summary
The Mechanical Engineer will oversee the operation, maintenance, and performance of mechanical equipment and fleet used in waste management operations. The role focuses on equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, operational efficiency, and compliance with technical and HSE requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the operation and maintenance of equipment and machinery used in waste collection, transportation, construction and demolition (C&D) waste management, and landfill projects, including collection vehicles, compactors, dump trucks, containers, cranes, and operational equipment at transfer and treatment stations as well as worker accommodation camps.
- Review and evaluate preventive and corrective maintenance plans, ensuring their implementation in compliance with technical and environmental standards.
- Monitor the performance of equipment and treatment stations, review breakdown and repair reports to ensure operational continuity and the efficiency of waste disposal systems.
- Conduct benchmarking and analytical studies to assess equipment performance and the quality of operations and maintenance across project facilities.
- Follow up on the application of manufacturers’ instructions and technical specifications for field and landfill equipment, ensuring compliance with environmental safety requirements.
- Review periodic maintenance schedules and fleet management plans, and provide technical recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and minimize recurrent breakdowns.
- Prepare technical analytical reports highlighting improvement observations related to equipment performance, failures, and system functionality in both field and landfill operations.
- Supervise field maintenance activities and ensure strict adherence to occupational safety and quality standards (HSE) in workshops, operational sites, and landfill areas.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering.
- Valid professional accreditation/registration with the relevant engineering authority.
- Experience in mechanical equipment, maintenance, or fleet management.
