All of our system institutions place strong emphasis on service — helping to build healthier, more educated communities in South Carolina and beyond.Advertised Job SummaryManages the South Carolina Digital Newspaper Program by planning, organizing, and tracking the progress and completion of all activities required.Researches and selects South Carolina newspaper titles for digitization by developing selection criteria, obtaining feedback and approval of the SCDNP advisory board, evaluating and documenting copyright status, compiling a list of selected titles and required details for submission to LOC, and revising the selections as needed based on availability and condition of physical and microfilm copies. Documents newspaper titles found via title research that are already available for free in digital form. This job function fulfills the requirements to convene an advisory board, compile a list of selected titles, evaluate copyright status, and identify open-access digital titles not included in NDNP.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities- Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.- Maintain confidentiality, effectively plan and organize work activities to prioritize task completion according to schedules and goals.- Ability to communicate effectively and deal courteously and effectively with internal and external customers.- Exercise sound judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills and the ability to interact effectively with faculty, students, and staff.- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.- Attention to detail.- Demonstrated experience working on digital library projects with metadata standards and tools.
