Medical Monitoring Director Responsibilities

The Medical Monitoring Director (MMD) is primarily responsible for leading the MM operations and ensuring required targets in quality, finance, and productivity, including realisation, profitability and utilisation are being met. The core responsibilities also include managing MM compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines, developing and implementing best-in-class policies, procedures, and practices, overseeing client interactions and deliverables, and contributing to the education and training of MM staff.

The MMD will cross-collaborate with colleagues from Operations, Finance, IT and Business Development to ensure business continuity, liaise with external contractors, if applicable, be responsible for ensuring audit inspection readiness.

Responsibilities

• Strategically plan and manage MM structure, function, resourcing, processes, and project deliverables.
• Lead the MM team. Set and drive the team’s annual performance review, development goals and KPIs.
• Ensure uniform standards of MM training, process, management, and project delivery.
• Appraise proposals and budgets, pricing tool and financials for continual success of MM business.
• Liaise with all offices to identify and resolve any issues related to client deliverables.
• Identify and implement learning and development requirements for world-class performance across the company. Work with HR & L&D to ensure training needs are met for all MM personnel.
• Work with Business Development to ensure appropriate support is provided for generating new business.
• Provide MM function input to Management on matters of policy and general operational issues and company growth.
• Ensure all documentation of MM methods and policies is up to date and compliant with client requirements, current regulations, and guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• Medically qualified with experience in clinical practice. Advanced degree preferred.
• 6+ years of hands-on medical related work experience across all clinical trial phases.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience leading medical/clinical/scientific teams, and/or projects.
• Experience in drug development, pharmacovigilance in the pharmaceutical and/or CRO industry. Knowledge of drug development plans and practice.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with enthusiasm, ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective Finance understanding to plan, implement, and evaluate MM budgets and contracts.
• Attention to detail, strong initiative, critical thinking skills and follow through are essential for this job.
• Exceptional customer-service orientation and high degree of professionalism.
• Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures, countries, and professional backgrounds.
• Ability to summarise complex results and present in a clear, concise, and scientifically accurate manner to a wide range of audiences.
