About Our Client
Our client is a Hong Kong-based financial technology company providing enterprise-grade, blockchain-native cross-border payment solutions for B2B capital flow and stablecoin settlement.
Job Summary
The Business Development Director will be responsible for driving enterprise client acquisition for cross-border payment and trade finance solutions. This quota-carrying, individual-contributor sales role targets mid-to-large corporate clients in international trade, commodity flows, and B2B services across high-growth emerging markets, primarily Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve and exceed revenue, gross margin, and Total Payment Volume (TPV) targets for enterprise clients with cross-border payment and trade settlement needs.
- Originate and build a healthy multi-stage pipeline of mid-to-large corporate clients in international trade, commodity flows, B2B service exporters, and cross-border supply-chain businesses.
- Independently design tailored commercial structures, covering pricing, FX, settlement terms, fee economics, and compliance, leading negotiations to contract closure.
- Manage deal-level gross margin attainment, monitor cost-to-serve, and structure deals balancing commercial momentum with sustainable unit economics.
- Run the full sales cycle end-to-end: prospecting, discovery, solutioning, contracting, onboarding, go-live, ramp-up, and account expansion.
- Coordinate with Compliance and Risk on KYB, KYC, and ongoing client reviews, ensuring alignment with licensed footprint and risk framework.
- Partner closely with Product, Treasury Operations, Compliance, and Marketing to deliver client outcomes and provide structured market feedback.
- Maintain rigorous CRM hygiene, deliver accurate revenue and TPV forecasting, and provide analysis on pipeline health, win/loss patterns, and market trends.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of B2B enterprise sales/business development experience, with a strong preference for backgrounds in banking (international/trade finance divisions), the factoring industry, established cross-border trading firms, or commodity flow finance.
- Demonstrated track record of selling to mid-to-large corporate clients with operations or trade flows in Southeast Asia, Africa, or Latin America, with quantifiable revenue and quota attainment results.
- Solid working knowledge of cross-border trade finance fundamentals, including L/Cs, T/T, open account, FX, settlement structures, and basic AML/KYC/KYB requirements.
- Proven ability to independently architect commercial proposals end-to-end, from client discovery through pricing, structuring, contracting, and execution.
- Strong commercial discipline: gross margin attainment, cost-to-serve management, and deal-level economics ownership.
- Strong data and analytical skills, comfortable working with deal economics, pipeline metrics, market sizing, and structured analyses.
- Sharp commercial instinct, structured thinking, strong planning discipline, and the ability to navigate ambiguity in fast-changing emerging markets.
- Proven cross-functional collaboration skills, able to partner effectively with Product, Operations, Compliance, and Risk.
- Fluent business English required; Cantonese fluency is a plus and prioritized for Hong Kong-based candidates.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, International Trade, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
- Hong Kong-based, with the right to work in Hong Kong; local Hong Kong candidates strongly preferred. Willingness to travel across emerging markets as needed.
- Familiarity with compliant stablecoin payment solutions or prior involvement in stablecoin/digital-asset-enabled cross-border settlement projects is a plus.
- Prior experience in a Trade Finance or Commodity Finance team at a major international bank or a leading factoring/supply-chain finance institution is a plus.
- Existing client network among Hong Kong-headquartered trading houses, commodity traders, B2B service exporters, or emerging-market corporates is a plus.
- Sharp industry insight into emerging-market trade flows, currency dynamics, regulatory environments, and competitive landscape is a plus.
- Eagerness to learn and stay current on cross-border payment innovation, regulatory shifts, and emerging-market opportunities is a plus.
